How ’bout a glass of lemonade?

September 25, 2011
Just finished a piano version of “Wee Wee Mouse” and looking forward to writing a children’s chorus version, too. Picked up my first copy of Finale a music software for composing.
Hope you enjoy!

My first composed work of music. All parts created and written by me in a complete score. I completed this over a 6 month time period; with weekly composition lessons with Dr. Rob Esler at Scottsdale Community College and weekly voice lessons with Beth Livingston-Hakes.

Lyrics:

How ’bout a glass of lemonade?
A treat for us after we’ve played.

Lemons alone are not so good,
but I’d like one anyway.
Grab a lemon from the tree
drop ‘em in a tub,
scrub-a-dub-dub!
Now mix with me the ingredients.
Shiny, shiny lemons,
sweet sweet sugar
put ‘em in a blender,
taste their splendor.
Lemons can be so good.

How ’bout a glass of lemonade?
Something for your thirst
when you’re parched

It’s fun to be outside
when there’s lemonade involved.
grab a lemon,
drop ‘em in a tub,
scrub-a-dub-dub!
Now mix with me the ingredients.
Shiny, shiny lemons,
sweet sweet sugar
put ‘em in a blender,
taste their splendor.
Lemons can be so good.

(Bridge-trumpet solo)

Let’s bring a glass of lemonade
to share with our neighborhood friends.
Helping their mothers everyday,
and they deserve a treat.
Brotha, oh brotha
Give ‘em a glass or two
then they’ll love you!

Now that’s, now that’t lemonade.

It’s an amazing amount of work writing all this out by hand, but utilizes my architectural drafting skills.

2010

Here’s a student film I created at the Film School @ Scottsdale Community College called the Piano Invoice. It was for our first film classes, shot on 16mm. My second attempt to write a story and put music to the images.

2009

This was the year I was laid off from architecture. I did create some cool independent architectural projects, most notably the Manhattan Facelift. You may view it and other designed projects/products of mine at http://fatstickfurniture.com

2008

November 4, 2008 I put up a billboard on Sunset Boulevard to promote my new (at the time) 6 song EP. It did not do well, but it did sell one song on iTunes. As my piano tuner friend said, “but hey, it was a record sale!” Ain’t that the truth? Well, its all in good time.

This is a video my friend and I made for the song “Summer” off the 6 song EP.
