Wow, that was a fun show last night. It was at a house in Gilbert, AZ. I haven’t rocked like that for a while, very cool. There were several drummers and conga players; Bela Horvath to be sure. Great time and ppppp poool fun!
So, I’ve been taking piano lessons for the last 7 weeks now. I met this gentleman through my good friend and master Steinway Technician, Mark DeCotiis. Steve has played trombone for the Phoenix Symphony, conducted the Army Band for 20 years and now teaches piano to people of all ages.
Anyway, I’m learning to read music, finally, and it has dramatically improved my songwriting in such a short window of time. Just check out the demos on my songs page. So, this is great news for the Show!
I was out at Tempe town lake last Saturday strumming and reworking one of my older tunes. A couple of girls were out paddle boating and I thought I’d meet them for some reason. Anyway, I kept playing and practicing the new version and sure enough about a half hour later they walked by kind of shy like. So, I waved at them and they came over to hear the new version. One girl asked, “is this tune about a particular girl?” I said, “no, I just like it because it has three syllables.” They both go, “oh.”
So, then the next day I was thinking about the question and decided that the song should be about the girl I haven’t met.
Here’s the new lyrics:
STEPHANIE 3/4/09
Opened my eyes this morning yeah
Saw the girl of my dreams
She’s in my mind and my thoughts
I’ve never met her to this day
Until I do her name will be . .
Stephanie
I’ve tried to meet her many times
But she never seems to come my way
My luck will never find her
She’ll probably come upon me
She’ll ask me to dance
and I’ll say, “whoa for sure”
Slip your socks over your toes
and lets get down the way!
Stephanie
Now I’ve found my love
She’s found her love, too
Why did it have to take so long?
I guess these things just do
Now we’re in love . . in love
Stephanie
Shut my eyes this afternoon
Rest my head upon her heart
Talked the evening right on through
How’d she ever find me?
I’m now working on a new tune called “Jammin’ in the Afternoon”. It has trumpet, trombone and French horn. It about time to move in a new direction with more lush instrumentation. I’ll post a demo version here pretty soon.
The Trevor Pan Show is looking for some cool energetic girls, 19+, that would like to make some extra cash, hang out with Pan and sell some merchandise. If you weren’t aware, The Trevor Pan Show had a billboard in Hollywood during November and December of last year which promoted “It’s About Time…” the new compilation of songs recorded acoustically by The Trevor Pan Show. Pan coined the phrase “Play me. Feel good.” for the campaign.
Pantonic Records will be printing some shirts for fans. These shirts will be printed on the American Apparel® line. All girls included in this promotion will have a chance of doing a photo shoot for print ads; this is a great way for young models to build their portfolio or just have fun on Friday afternoons for 2-3 hours on college campus’ in Phoenix. The first run of shirts will be ready in early February. Email music @ thetrevorpanshow.com for more info!
A new day for The Trevor Pan Show! On December 24, 2008 the show host of “Driving with Gass”, Kevin Gassman, played “Caroling for Christmas” on KWSS 106.7FM in Scottsdale, Arizona. This marks the first radio play on a pro station. Give them a call and request your favorite tune. 480.551.1067
A unique reporter, David Weinberg, based in New Orleans, LA, will be coming to Hollywood next weekend. What do people think of The Trevor Pan Show Hollywood billboard? Find out soon when Mr. Weinberg, interviews me, the guitar shop owners beneath the billboard and various Hollywood passersby for NPR.
You may hear one of his unusual stories on NPR’s website about the “Stinkin Linkin” here.
The video below was shot on Sunday November 9 in the morning under the billboard at Sunset/Gardner. Here I’m talking about my new billboard, the origin of my song “Hollywood and Vine” and The Trevor Pan Show on the marquee at Whisky.
Well, I have to tip my hat and thank Ms. Celina A. Denkins, Alissa and the crew at Whisky a Go Go for my first show in California. It was an awesome night. You may view a few pics and a fan’s lo-fi cell phone video of the performance here.
Also, my friend, the illustrious Shanti, showed up for a shot at the billboard.

I had some thoughts while posting this image. The Trevor Pan Show will soon become a full band. After looking at this photo I thought it would be cool to have the auditions on the rooftop. In this case we would be assembling a band and not signaling the demise of the group, as in the case of the Beatles. It’s sort of picking up where they left off. The versatility of the name The Trevor Pan Show would also lend itself well to tv. Perhaps a show could be similar to American Idol, but with a lot more feeling and substance. The folks who audition would pay a fee, enough to keep out the rifraff but low enough to not discourage the talent, those moneys can be used to fund the recording of the single “Hollywood and Vine” at Oceanway studios in Hollywood.
